Motor Vehicle Offenses Usually Cost New Jersey Drivers More In The Way of Increased Insurance Costs Than The Combined Cost of An Attorney plus all Fines Paid.
Our office is adept at representing clients in all traffic matters. Even when you are clearly guilty of an offense, there are other lesser known charges that can often be appropriately utilized by an experienced attorney to ammend the charges against you to a lesser offense carrying less or even no Motor Vehicle points at all. It is also very often possible to save our client's from an otherwise mandatory loss of license with the use of such plea bargain amendments. The system is made to keep the roads safe, not to unduly punish good drivers who occasionally make an error in judgment.
Why an attorney is recommended even for small traffic fines
That is why you need an attorney that understands the system and works with prosecutors throughout the state. And if you are innocent of the charges, you always need good representation to prove it. Our office is equiped with all the tools and has built strongest relationships of trust with court prosecutors and judges throughout New Jersey so that we are able to achieve the absolute best outcome available for you.
As a service to our clients, below is a list of common motor vehicle offenses and the points and some of the other penalties associated with these offenses:

Surcharges
If you are assigned points on your Driver License, you will have to pay point surcharges (see below) in addition to any court-imposed fines and penalties.
Point surcharges:
Point reductions issued for one year of violation or suspension-free driving, or for completion of a driver improvement school or defensive driving course are not considered in reviewing the three year record for surcharge purposes.
Additional surcharges:
All holders of New Jersey Licenses are probationary drivers for the first two years. If you are a probationary driver, you are subject to suspension of your drivng privileges if four DMV points are charged to your license or if you are convicted of two moving violations - with or without points!
Probationary driver program
When you are issued a driver license permit for the first time, you become a probationary driver. During the two-year probation period, if you are convicted of two or more moving violations with a total of four or more points, you must enroll in the Probationary Driver School Program. The attendance fee is $100. MVC will alter the current probationary driver program to meet the requirements of the new graduated driver license (GDL) as soon as the GDL program is fully implemented.
The program's purpose is to correct improper or dangerous driving practices. If you complete the program, you'll receive a three-point reduction and be placed on a one-year test period. If you fail to complete the program, or if you commit a violation during your test period, your driving privilege will be suspended.
